Tudor Lodge

We arrived very early in the morning on our visit in spring 2022 and were welcomed with an offer of breakfast before heading out for the day. The area was beautiful to explore and very clean. This was our first stop in Ireland, and we loved it. The traditional Irish breakfast was great each morning, and the owner was friendly and personable. There was also a super-friendly cat outside who loved greeting people.

We’ve already booked another stay for June. The host gave us a really nice welcome, and the hotel and garden are beautiful, with lovely views. Our bed was large and very comfortable. Everything was spotless and cosy, and breakfast was delicious.

Our only regret was staying just one night in early May. The room was big and beautiful, with a lovely view from the windows, and it was clean and comfortable. The bed and shower were great. After a long, tiring day dealing with an unscrupulous car rental agency at DUB, I especially appreciated how friendly and helpful the host was, and his great sense of humour. I asked for my scrambled eggs really well cooked in the morning, and he joked, “You mean like rubber?” I said, “Precisely!” They weren’t rubbery at all, just perfectly cooked, with a lovely topping of smoked salmon. Breakfast felt extra special, with cheeses, meats, fruit, yogurt, baked goodies and the hot menu. Next time we’ll stay longer.

Christopher was a fantastic host, and the room was spacious and spotless. The building has loads of character, and breakfast was delicious and served quickly without making us feel rushed. A beautiful trail is just a short walk away and takes you through lush forest to the visitor’s center in 25 minutes. Ireland’s coasts get a lot of attention, but in my book the Wicklow mountains are a must-see. I’d give the location six stars if I could.
