The meal at the Church restaurant was delicious, especially the panna cotta, which was hard to resist. We also really enjoyed staying somewhere with so much history. It was lovely to see a local business family owning the hotel and working to restore such a beautiful estate. The place felt peaceful and beautiful, and I felt lucky to have stayed. The receptionist was welcoming, friendly and professional. I even put up my drone for a couple of photos. Hope they don’t mind!

Mr, Molloy made us feel welcome straight away. He was gracious and hospitable, and a real class individual. My wife and I had afternoon tea and spent time at the wellness center. The spa facilities, both indoors and outdoors, were amazing, and the staff were great too. His family have put a lot of time, effort and money into the remodeling, and it has come out incredibly. I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Co Donegal.

The best part of the day for me was my massage with Melanie. It was genuinely amazing. The afternoon tea was lovely too, with plenty of food, beautifully presented, and the staff in the house were friendly and helpful. We came as a group of 8 for a baby shower at Rockhill House & Spa, and there were some really nice parts to the experience. The spa facilities, though, didn’t feel worth the price. We’d booked a few months ahead and had originally been quoted one amount, then the night before, when paying the balance, were told the total had gone up by almost €100 because of a staff error. Mistakes happen, but it was a disappointing surprise so close to the booking. The package was €90 each for afternoon tea and thermal suite access. The tea alone felt worth €39.50 to me, but the extra €50+ for the spa didn’t. The thermal suite was very overcrowded, with 20 people in it at one point. One outdoor hot tub was out of order; the other was cold, wouldn’t heat properly, and its jets weren’t working properly. That left the small indoor pool as the only warm water option for so many people. When we raised the hot tub problems, the spa staff were short with us instead of helpful or apologetic, which made things more frustrating. There were some other issues you wouldn’t expect at this price. One of us was served an out-of-date can of West Coast Cooler Rosé (€7). After my treatment, all the shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower were empty. Reception kindly gave me shampoo and conditioner, but said there was no body wash available in the spa. Drinks payments were confusing too. I paid when leaving the spa, but another group from our party who left later were told their drinks were “on the house.” Nobody could really explain why when I asked.

Breakfast was delicious, with plenty to choose from, and everything came hot on hot plates. There was lots of tea and coffee as well. The setting is beautiful and quiet, with the house on a hill among trees. Even so close to Letterkenny, there was no passing traffic noise. All the staff were relaxed, genuinely friendly and helpful. It wouldn’t be fair to single anyone out, but Martina deserves top marks for her warm welcome. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for a couple of nights away. Five stars all day long! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our bedroom in the main house was outstanding, and the food, accommodation and service were excellent. From the minute we arrived, we felt treated like royalty, and nothing was too much trouble. They grow and use their own products too. We had a look around the grounds, the Spa and the Wellness house. It was all so tranquil and lovely. Thanks for making our time there special. We’ll definitely be back.
