The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the property is in a quiet spot where you can rest well. I also forgot my charger after checking out, and the same woman came after me to return it, even though I’d already walked some distance. I appreciated that. But arriving was upsetting. I’d booked for one night and had said I’d get there around 2:30 pm, but I actually arrived at 10 pm. At the door, a woman told me there was no room because I hadn’t arrived at 2:30. I was frustrated that nobody had called or let me know my booking might be cancelled. She eventually found me a room, but made me feel as if I’d done something wrong by showing up that night before 11 pm. If there was going to be a cancellation time limit, I think guests should be told when they book or contacted before the reservation is cancelled.

We were really grateful they could take us at short notice after a concert at Thomond Park. The host was welcoming, and the place felt very homely, neat, and smelled lovely. Our room had a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. It was €60 for the night; they no longer offer breakfast, which is understandable. We took a taxi from the centre to check in, about 15 minutes, then walked to and from the concert venue. It was around an hour each way, but the weather was nice.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. During the few weeks I was there, I kept getting asked about money every week even though I’d paid. The woman at reception was very unwelcoming, and I wasn’t happy with what I paid. I found better rates elsewhere, and those places included breakfast, which Coonagh Lodge didn’t.

Such a homely place, with lovely hosts and beautifully kept grounds. The view over the Clare hills was beautiful too. Breakfast was lovely, especially the pancakes, which were the best I’ve had in Ireland. I could have stayed a month, but had to move on.

Bergie and Tom are a lovely older couple who really look after you. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom had proper drugstore toiletries rather than the cheap hotel kind. Breakfast was delicious, and the dining room felt warm and homely, decorated like a typical Irish home. It’s an easy drive from the N18 or west Limerick if you use Google offline maps. There are restaurants and fast food nearby. They close the doors at 7 pm, but will accommodate a later arrival if you let them know in advance what time to expect you. We’d recommend it.
