The Pier Hotel

We stayed for one night as a group for a Hen Party, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was ideally located. Dinner was lovely, with enough choice on the menu for everyone to find something they liked. We arrived before check-in, and the receptionist let us leave our bags in one room. In the morning, while we waited for our bus, we could use the luggage room again. With 14 women, we had loads of stuff!

I was very happy with my three-day stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was great. My room was good, although a little warm, and the private bath was excellent. I also had a couple of beers in the pub downstairs. I wasn't driving, so parking didn't matter to me.

The room was clean, and there was private underground parking. We weren't told when booking, or by the staff, that the restaurant was closed and there were no food or drink options. We had to figure that out ourselves. At the full price, it would've been nice to have something available, even tea or coffee in the room. The view wasn't very impressive. The hotel wasn't busy, so we'd have preferred a different river view, since that was part of the appeal.

Our group was there for one night, and half of us were assigned the wrong rooms. Then our bags got locked inside one of those rooms. The rooms were much smaller than the website pictures suggested, smelled of smoke, and had uncomfortable beds. The car park was very tight and difficult to get into. We spoke to four different people because nobody seemed to be a proper receptionist, and staff were rude and unhelpful. We nearly left to book somewhere else. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
