Glenroyal Hotel & Leisure Club

I spent two weeks here for work and would probably stay again. The staff were mostly warm and helpful, and often greeted me in passing. The fine dining restaurant and breakfast/lunch cafe were both good quality, and there's a full à la carte breakfast. Maynooth also has plenty of places to eat within a short walk. Parking could be a challenge, especially on busy weekends when construction blocked some spaces and a public membership fitness centre was using part of the hotel. I always found a spot eventually, but my room was near the back of the building, so I had to walk all the way around to the front entrance. A key-card entrance at the rear would help. My room was clean and in excellent condition when I arrived. The bathroom was modern and stayed a bit warmer thanks to the heated towel rack and mirror. The firm bed was comfortable, even for someone like me who often has trouble with hotel beds and pillows. Noise isolation was pretty good too, and a train about 100 meters away was reduced to a faint sound. A small fridge would have been useful for drinks, though I understand the room key controlled a master disconnect switch, so one might not be practical. The room had radiant heat but no forced air. At times I turned the thermostat down to 18°C or less and opened a window to get comfortable. Housekeeping was uneven. They made the bed daily, but towels left on the floor every other day were only sometimes taken and replaced. I went several days without a sink towel, and other supplies came and went. Things were more noticeable on weekends when occupancy was higher. The daily room setup had its quirks, and I sometimes had to reset things to suit my preferences. Weekdays were comfortable and pleasant, with a bit more noise and hassle on weekends. I'd rank it near the top of my choices if I need to stay in the area again.

The staff were friendly and really helpful, and there's a small mall across the carpark with a pharmacy, grocery store, dry cleaners, hairdresser, and newsagent. The room was very clean, with a powerful shower, a clean bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Breakfast came with our room, and it was a full Irish fry, plus plenty of fruit and cereal for anyone wanting something healthier. I'd highly recommend staying here.

The staff were so welcoming, and Ana at the front desk was especially helpful and smiley. The kids club was excellent, with a gaming room that was a highlight for my son. We also used the indoor pool twice during our one-night escape with the kids. Our only issue was how hot the room stayed. Even with the windows open and thermostat at 15, it felt tropical and we slept badly.

We had another great stay at the Glenroyal hotel, in Room 121 from 16th-18th feb 2026. The location is perfect, the pool is fab, and the staff go above and beyond. Ernie and Edmardia were especially helpful to my mother, who has just had a knee replacement. They couldn't do enough for her. I'd recommend this hotel 100% 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
