The staff were really nice, easily five stars for them. The decor in the restaurant felt dated, and we sat on a stool, which wasn’t for me, though others may like it. My pate starter tasted processed. I asked for my fillet steak medium, but it came out well, well done. I might come back for lunch, but I’ll skip dinner. It felt overpriced, and honestly the food wasn’t good.

I was taking a course at NMCI for a couple of days, and Boson was really handy for getting there and into Cork city when needed. The food was good and reasonably priced. My room was warm, clean, and comfortable, and the B&B price was keen. I’d stay again if I’m in the area.

The Oreo cheesecake was lovely, and the restaurant itself is charming, with polite staff. But the food didn’t live up to the place’s reputation or the price. My Fresh Prawn Cocktail looked good, though the prawns didn’t taste fresh and had little flavor. The bland dressing didn’t do much for the seafood. The steak in my Surf & Turf was chewy, overcooked, and unseasoned, and it came with the same prawns as the starter, making the meal feel repetitive instead of indulgent. Beautiful presentation, little flavor, and not worth the price.

I’ve stayed here twice for business, and it’s been perfect both times. The rooms are warm and clean. Breakfast is cooked to order and starts at 7am, which is ideal when you need to get on the road. The food is excellent.

The scampi was pretty good, but the duck was chewy and overcooked. Given the prices, I wasn’t very impressed. Unfortunately, I feel the Bosun’s quality has gone downhill in recent years.
