Great National Mulranny Park Hotel

Valerie is a real credit to the Mulranny Park Hotel. She made us feel so cared for, remembering our drinks order and always being warm, kind, and attentive. We first met her when we visited the hotel as a possible wedding venue, and she made every visit special, including our wedding day and our return stay. Her service felt personal and sincere, and she helped make the hotel feel welcoming. We’re already looking forward to coming back with our children, and Valerie is a big reason why. She added something special to our whole wedding experience.

The view and atmosphere made our Easter Sunday meal memorable, and the restaurant was competitively priced. Our family of five really enjoyed the high-quality food, with professional and exceptional service from the staff. We recommend the hotel and its team without hesitation.

We’d eaten here plenty of times before on trips and it had always been pleasant, but this lunch was a bit of a joke. We placed a straightforward order with the manager: coffee, diet coke, wings, and a turkey and ham sandwich, all clearly on the menu. We asked if the sandwich came toasted and were told yes. First they brought white sliced bread with chicken and what looked like salad cream. We sent it back. The second try was toast with chicken and cheese, plus chips, still wrong, and my wife had finished her wings by then. The third had turkey and ham, but on two slices of dry white sliced bread, with the same chips from the second attempt, which were cold by then. We appreciated the chips, but we won’t be rushing back after this.

The hotel has excellent staff and a beautiful location, and the food at our wedding was delicious. Caroline and Bernadette in particular went above and beyond. But our experience with management and wedding coordination added a lot of unnecessary stress, so we can’t recommend it to couples who need a reliable venue and coordinator. Neither we nor our guests plan to return. The problems began after we received written confirmation of our date and had started ordering save-the-date cards. At our first site visit, we were told there was a double booking and we should choose another date. Less than a week after signing the contract, the price went up by over 50%. We had three coordinators in less than a year, and the last one was the least reliable. In the final run-up, I couldn’t reach the coordinator for over 24 hours to arrange dress and cake drop-off. We only got confirmation after 9 pm the night before, following several calls to the hotel. On the wedding day, it took over an hour and a half and multiple requests through reception to meet our coordinator and get the promised champagne on arrival. We’d agreed to cut the cake at 9:30 pm, but there was no cake then. My husband searched for the coordinator and caught her leaving for the night without telling us or arranging it. The next day, I had to go to the hotel four times to collect my belongings. Nothing had been organized or cleaned. The final bill was also wrong. We raised it promptly, but it took over two weeks just to start the refund, and we had to follow up several times. They said they’d called us when they hadn’t. Even after I gave our bank details during a scheduled call with the coordinator, the refund wasn’t initiated until we escalated the issue again. We got it three weeks later, and the coordinator never apologized. For transparency, and given prior management replies, we copied the info@ email address on all correspondence, but it didn’t improve communication.
