Killashee Hotel

The garden view was lovely, with cows and birds making a rather odd little symphony that suited the place. Rooms were clean and well cared for, and staff at reception and in the restaurants were very attentive. Breakfast had enough choices for most people. The restaurant team were especially nice and helpful, though a bit more practice with fine dining service etiquette would have made the meal top notch. The pool, steam room and Jacuzzi are in a separate building, so you have to walk outside to get to them.

We spent hours wandering through the gardens after coffee and cake, and I loved how much there was to take in, from flowers and trees to statues and the changing colours and scents. Everything looked carefully kept, trimmed and planted. It was a beautiful day, and the place felt full of life. Kids were playing games on the grass, teenagers taking photos, and there were Communion groups and birthday parties too. Honestly, it felt a bit like being on a holiday abroad. The pictures I’m attaching only give a small glimpse of the day.

For our little family, the special treat on Saturday night was having a private movie set up by one of the managers. There were only three of us, but we got our own theatre, popcorn, drinks and a choice of film, and our four year old felt so special. We stayed in a Manor room after booking last minute on Tuesday for Friday the 20th. It was lovely, very clean and comfortable, and even had a Dyson hairdryer. The hotel decor is gorgeous and seems recently renovated. The gentleman checking us in on Friday night tailored the information to our stay with a four year old. We had dinner at Oak & Anvil both nights, with terrific food, generous portions and good value. Alfred was one of the best waiters we’ve had anywhere. He remembered us on both evenings, paid close attention and gave five star service without fuss. The receptionist on the mornings of the 21st and 22nd was excellent too. Nothing let us down over the weekend, and we felt we got great value. This was our second stay at an FBD hotel in six months, and they’re setting a high standard for hotels in Ireland right now. Thank you to the team at Kilashee, you should be proud.

Went with the girls for a spa treatment and afternoon tea, no overnight stay. What a venue, the hotel and grounds are gorgeous. The spa was nice, and the changing rooms were modern and very clean. Afternoon tea was so filling that we had to take some food home.
