I can’t recommend this place. It’s packed with filthy antiques in every spare spot, so I felt anxious about breaking something. I stayed one night in the very dirty basement room 5. It smelled horribly damp, and the carpet and beds were filthy. I have asthma and struggled to catch my breath. I don’t think the bedclothes had been changed from the last guests, or perhaps for a long time, and the sheets were torn. I didn’t sleep at all and tried to rest in my clothes because the bedding was visibly dirty. I didn’t use the shower either, as the towels were stained and dirty. The place needs to close immediately for a professional deep clean. I also didn’t appreciate the proprietor coming into our room while we were out to switch on the bedside lamp and close the window. My personal items had been moved, and I felt they may have searched my travel bag. Perhaps they thought it was a personal touch, but I found it invasive. It was also strange to be asked for payment within five minutes of arrival, before being shown the accommodation. Paying guests should be able to expect basic cleanliness. Breakfast was awful, and ants were crawling across the table shared with other guests. I had food poisoning for two days after trying some of the cooked breakfast, which I only ate in the hope it might redeem the place. A total dump. I don’t know how the Health & Safety Authority hasn’t shut it down. Disgusting.

We booked this B&B for one night last week and regret not looking it up first. When we arrived mid-afternoon, the house had an oil burner smell, and the clutter was overwhelming, all presented as antiques. The owner led us into the living room and asked us to pay upfront before we’d seen the room. That was our mistake. Room 1 upstairs had more old furniture and, oddly, a display cabinet of old crockery. The bathroom smelled pungently, presumably from a drain. The sink unit was loose, no water came from the cold tap, and the shower was dirty and unusable. The carpets were filthy, the balcony outside was dirty, and the inside part of the sliding door had cobwebs and grime. It looked like neither had been cleaned in a long time. We considered leaving, but had an event to get to and felt under pressure, so we stayed. The bed was uncomfortable and we couldn’t sleep. We got up at 6am to leave without breakfast, but first checked the bed. We’d slept on a mattress topper, and the old main mattress underneath was covered in brown stains. It was disgusting to realize we’d spent the night on it. We can’t understand how this B&B operates in such dire condition or how it could have passed any health and safety rules for a business.

Micheal and his wife run this BNB, and they’re a lovely couple. The service was excellent, and breakfast in the morning was the best. It’s a quiet place with clean, tidy rooms and bathrooms, and a great location just one bus stop from Navan city centre. Great value for the price, and the best BNB to stay in.

This was the worst accommodation I’ve ever had. It was dirty, smelled awful and had moths flying around. We left straight away, but the owner wouldn’t refund our money and laughed at us. We feel like we were robbed. I strongly warn people against staying here.

Staying here felt like visiting family who hadn’t bothered to clean. The whole house was musty and stale, and my dusty room smelled damp enough that I had to open a window. It was cluttered everywhere. Maneuvering suitcases was stressful, since one wrong move could knock a painting off the wall or send you into a glass case of antique teapots. Parking was awkward too. The driveway is tiny and steep, and you have to ask other guests to move their cars so you can get in or out. It was uncomfortable for all of us. While we were trying to work out where to put the cars, the owner just cheerfully said, "It's American Parking!" The shared bathroom was dusty and crammed with old, partly used deodorants, razors and shampoos. The bathtub and bidet didn’t work, the faux flowers had dust and black mold on them, the towels were stained, and there were spiderwebs in every corner of every room. I went to the kitchen to make tea, but the electric kettle was disgusting, caked with scale and seemingly never cleaned. The teacups I found were dirty in the cupboard, with dried jam and coffee marks, so I had to wash them first. Looking through so many cabinets to find them, I saw awful food storage, with a lot of food that looked old and an open bag of oats spilling onto the shelf. After that, I knew I wouldn’t eat breakfast. If the owners can’t dust a room, bleach linens or keep cups clean, I don’t want to know how they handle food. The whole house needs a deep clean and professional organizing. The BNB’s current state is completely unprofessional, to say the least. The male owner was curt with me every time we spoke, though he seemed very jovial with the older guests.
