Dinah and Jerry made us feel at home, with thoughtful advice for getting around. We stayed October 17-20, 2025, and loved the spotless, cozy rooms with their own character. The homemade breakfast was delicious, and Ivyleigh House in Portlaoise, County Laois, is a charming place to stay. I’d happily come back.

Breakfast by candlelight was both lovely and delicious, as the photo shows. Our Georgian bedroom had loads of space, an elegant feel, and was really comfortable. Jerry greeted us with such warmth and kindness. Those are my three reasons for giving it five stars.

We appreciated being able to check in later in the evening after calling ahead. The fresh breakfast was ordered when we arrived and cooked the next morning, and it was tasty. Ivyleigh House has lovely high ceilings and comfortable beds, with handy little touches like portable heaters in the rooms. Our group found it a great one-night stop between Dublin and Galway, and the welcome was warm and accommodating. Thanks, Ivyleigh House!

Breakfast was the best part for me: I had smoked salmon and what might be the best egg dish ever, cooked by Dinah and brought out by Jerry and his grandson. We ended up chatting with other guests from Kerry over a relaxed, really enjoyable meal. Jerry and his wife were wonderful hosts, and the whole stay felt special. We were just passing through Portlaoise, but found a huge, comfortable room within easy walking distance of everything in town. A great place, with great hosts.

The breakfast was lovely, with local produce and Dinah's brown bread. Jerry and Dinah made us feel so welcome, and the place had a real homely feel. Our room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. We’ll definitely be back 😁
