The Killeshin Hotel

Breakfast was very good, and the staff were attentive. It’s a very clean, medium-sized hotel just a few minutes from Portlaoise centre, with a gym and poo. I’d stay again.

The staff are fantastic, the food is gorgeous, and the rooms are beautiful. I’ve stayed twice, first taking my sister for her birthday 🎂 and then my granddaughter for hers 🎂. We enjoyed the pool, and breakfast the next morning was perfect. Can’t wait to come back. 💯 Recommend this hotel.

The Killeshin team delivered a consistently high-quality evening, though I’d be interested to see whether the same attention holds during peak demand. My visit was on a quiet Monday. I’m an F&B Manager within the same hotel group, so I tend to notice the operational details. At The Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise, the welcome was excellent, with a warm, professional check-in, and the room was spotlessly clean. The ale was excellent too, and the clean, well-maintained beer lines reflected well on the F&B team. Dinner was particularly strong. The seafood chowder was flavorful and well-seasoned, with piped butter florets and fresh peashoots as a thoughtful presentation touch. The burger was delicious and so generous that I had to cut it in half. The triple-cooked chips were just right and definitely hot enough. I’m looking forward to breakfast tomorrow. Highly recommended for the professionalism and quality I experienced.

The room was clean and lovely, with plenty of space in both the bedroom and bathroom. I walk a lot, but the traffic is pretty heavy and it takes a good 35 minutes to walk into town, including the train station, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have heavy luggage. Staff weren’t unfriendly, just not especially friendly either. At check-in, cash didn’t seem welcome and I was asked if I wouldn’t use a card because it was quicker 🙄. I prefer paying cash, so that may be worth considering. The breakfast staff were polite and efficient, but lacked a bit of friendliness.
