Snoozles Hostel

The dusty room was a real problem for me because of my dust mite allergy and asthma. The old carpet seemed to be part of the issue, and I had to move to another hostel. If you don’t have those problems, though, it’s a good place to stay. It has a great vibe, good facilities including a large kitchen, and a perfect location. Clean enough for a simple hostel.

Breakfast stops at 9:30, and arriving even five minutes late means you miss out, despite having paid for it. That was a big disappointment. Apart from that, I liked the staff from check-in and thought the place was quite good for one of Galway’s more affordable backpacker options. There’s a pleasant lounge with guitars and a TV, it’s kept very warm in winter, and each bed has a lamp and socket.

Finding somewhere to park overnight was the one drawback, since the nearby lot cost almost as much as our room. The place itself was better than I expected for the price, with clean rooms that had what we needed for a crash pad. The staff were great at suggesting places to go, and were still friendly and security-conscious when we came back late. It’s on a lively Galway street with traditional music around, so the location is hard to beat for a night out.

The shower was the only reason I held back a star. It didn’t drain properly, and the roughly one-inch lip meant the water could easily overflow, making it hard to shower. Otherwise, the hostel was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was the best. With the windows open, we got a cool breeze and live music from the musicians just below our room. I’d truly recommend it.
