Springfield B & B

The room was cosy and clean, and breakfast was lovely. But the en suite door wasn't secured properly and kept banging through the night, waking us again and again. The checkout was much worse. My partner asked the landlord if he wanted us to leave the cash beside the keys on the bedside table, and he said that was fine. We took that to mean the arrangement was settled. Once we got to Rosslare Harbour, he pulled up beside our car, having followed us, and threateningly told us to get out. Through the open window, he demanded payment. We said we'd left it on the table as agreed, and he eventually went away. When we called later to check whether he'd found the money, he suggested the misunderstanding was our fault. We're quite young, and I can almost understand his suspicion. Still, he rushed to the harbour and confronted us in public before checking the room, which felt like an unfair judgement based entirely on our appearance and the fact that we were three young people, a bit dishevelled after travelling all day. The whole thing was incredibly humiliating, and a terrible end to an otherwise lovely holiday in Ireland.
