The Santa visit at Barnabrow House on Sunday, December 7th kept us busy for about an hour and a half to two hours, with something festive happening the whole time. We made reindeer food and decorated cookies, and the disco was a hit with the adults as well as the kids. Cheerful elves, dancing and fairies got everyone into the Christmas spirit right away. Our daughter and sons were completely sure Santa was real when they met him. He was warm and friendly, and his real beard made the moment extra special. Such a magical family day out. We’re already looking forward to going again next year.

The food at the wedding was brilliant, and some of it came from the gardens. Service was attentive while the whole place still felt relaxed. Barnabrow House has a quaint, rustic character, but it was comfortable too, and felt very different from a hotel wedding. I also enjoyed how easy it was to get outside, especially with the lovely weather. It was one of the best weddings I’ve been to. I’d recommend it as a venue and would like to return for a bit of rest myself.

Geraldine was a wonderful host, and the design of the place could be straight from a magazine. Our room was lovely and spotless, and there were pretty grounds to wander around. Breakfast was delicious and healthy, with eggs, smoked salmon and excellent coffee. It’s a lovely area to explore by rental car, with Ballymaloe, Garryvoe and Ballycotton nearby, including Blackbird & Sean McGraths.

Calleigh loved having a small group, since she could really enjoy each part of the Santa Experience. She got to choose her own gift, so there were no tears, and the toy selection was really good quality. The Santa himself is the best we’ve met, with an out-of-this-world ho ho ho. The visit started with an elf introduction and a fairy, then she made reindeer food and helped tidy up after Santa. There was snow at the end of the disco, which she absolutely loved, and decorating her gingerbread man was a lovely finish. They add more and rethink the experience each year, so I can’t wait to come back next year.

Kenneth, our wedding coordinator, seemed to know what was needed before we even had to ask. He was there whenever we needed him, and his calm, professional manner and eye for detail helped keep the day stress-free. The staff were so helpful too, sorting out any small issue straight away without fuss. The venue was stunning and felt completely like us. The food was delicious, and our guests are still talking about it. It was beautiful and welcoming, and we feel so lucky we chose it for our special day. We’d happily recommend it.
