Riverside Hotel

The noise was awful on both nights, and the soundproofing promise was no help. On night one, the owner held a private after-hours party. Music carried through the whole hotel until almost midnight, even after staff asked the guests to keep things down. The staff seemed embarrassed to be handling complaints about the owner, but the music carried on. We considered leaving, but wouldn’t have got a refund, so stayed another night hoping the first had been unusual. It wasn’t. The second night, an event in the reception room brought more loud music, with drunk guests smoking and shouting outside the entrance, right below lots of rooms. Around midnight they went upstairs, yelling and slamming doors as they stumbled along. Some were vaping in the hallway, despite the hotel’s posted no smoking policy. I’ve never stayed anywhere louder in the US or Europe. The hotel’s event bookings and the example set by the owner don’t match the online claims about quiet nights or the guest policies. If you’re after a place that feels like a juvenile fraternity house, this might suit you. Anyone wanting an adult space where guests can rest should look elsewhere.
