I only meant to try one beginner lesson at Atlantic Surf School in Strandhill, but I liked it enough to come back for the full 5-day camp. I made a lot of progress over those days, and the teaching was a big part of that. The instructors were attentive, friendly, and fun to learn from, while still giving clear guidance. Everyone in our group got individual attention, and when groups were larger, there were enough instructors to keep things safe and give personal feedback. They made it easy to get started. Wetsuits, shoes, and boards were provided for every lesson, and they even offered sunscreen and zinc balm. Booking on the website was straightforward, and I thought the price was good value for the instruction and equipment. Being right beside the National Surf Centre was handy, too, with clean changing rooms, toilets, and hot showers available. You just need to bring your own shampoo and towel. It's a great experience whether you're new to surfing or hoping to improve.
