Ballyseede Castle

The castle and its grounds were nice, and there is an elevator, but the rooms have no AC and the beds were hard. Some staff were helpful and kind, while others seemed annoyed when we asked questions. I like dogs, but the wet-dog smell at the back entrance was overwhelming. If you're afraid of dogs or more of a cat person, this may not be the place for you. Breakfast was good, but the waitress didn't listen to what I said, so I ended up with food left over, which I hate wasting. Since it's a castle, the staff didn't seem to try as hard or be as nice as people at estates.

The highlight of our whole trip was being escorted around the property one morning by Joe and Dolan, the Irish wolfhounds. We still talk about it. The staff were attentive, the drinks were good, and we loved the food and afternoon tea. The other guests we met were lovely too. Beds were very comfortable and felt luxurious, though an Irish king is the size of an American queen. We planned our whole vacation around staying at Ballyseede, and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

From the moment we arrived, Ballyseedy Castle felt like home. The rooms were cosy, the food was good, and the staff were friendly. It has a luxurious feel without being stuffy. I also liked seeing a Gideon Bible in the room, and the very chilled-out dogs were a bonus. Highly recommended.

We ate every meal at Ballyseede Castle and enjoyed all of it. Our room was comfortable, clean, and spacious, and we loved the resident Irish wolfhounds. Esther also helped us with recommendations for places nearby. My husband and I had a wonderful stay.
