Tralee Townhouse

The rooms, especially the bathroom, were clean, and the location earns another star from me. The air in the rooms felt stuffy because they weren't ventilated well. At reception, the gentleman was coldly polite and didn't try to understand everyone's English. Given how many tourists visit this part of Ireland, he could have made more effort. I paid extra for continental breakfast, but it was the first one I've had without eggs included. Eggs were available for an additional charge.

We’ve been coming here for years as a couple from Limerick, and I can’t believe some of the reviews. Michael is one of the nicest men you could meet. The place is spotless and perfectly located, only two minutes from everything. There are great pubs nearby, including Sean ogs, Baileys Corner, and Turners bar. The Brogue park is just around the corner for beautiful food, and St John's church is a must-see. Supervalue is also two minutes away.

The full Irish breakfast was basic and not appetising. The ingredients seemed good, but they were handled poorly. As for the bath, it couldn't be used: the cold tap came off in my hand and the hot tap locked in the off position. I was told, “Oh, sorry about that!” The shower fittings had no washers, which created a risk of third degree burns. The excuse was, “I took them out to use somewhere else.” Expect a 2-star hotel and get a hostel. It was neither cheap nor cheerful.

The staff welcomed us when we arrived, and the townhouse is in a very central spot. Breakfast was nice and the service was good, though the room was stuffy and uncomfortable. There isn't property parking, so you can try street parking if there's a space outside, or use one of the reasonably priced options a few minutes away. The townhouse and our room were very dated. The shower room felt old too, and its air vent made a horrible noise. On our first morning, the hot water pump stopped while my partner was in the shower. We let the front desk know, and they fixed it straight away. If you're on a budget and won't spend much time in your room, this place should suit you.
