For €170 a night, I was completely disappointed and annoyed. We arrived and were told our room was in “the second building.” It felt like an old, run-down place. Room 6 had a 4-5 inch gap under the door, a bathroom handle coming loose, a badly sloping floor, two single beds that looked like they belonged in a Sims game, lifting bathroom lino, and a slightly frosted window that gave zero privacy. I went back to reception within five minutes, and credit where it’s due, they quickly moved us to “the main hotel.” That room was very outdated, with carpet burns, and felt like a waste of €170. I know a room is somewhere to sleep, but for two people paying that much for one night just for the location, it isn’t worth it with the Majestic a stone's throw away. Breakfast was included. A full Irish with tea or coffee was about €15 and pretty standard, but still didn’t justify what we paid for one night. They first tried to put us in a side building away from the hotel for that rate. I’m sure the bar has a great atmosphere, but as a place to stay, keep your money and spend it somewhere else. The first three photos I included are from the second room, and the last two show the gap and handle from the first.

The room cost almost 200, which felt like a wedding rate, and looked straight out of the 90s. Breakfast was decent, thanks to the charming woman serving it.

We had a very pleasant two days at this old-fashioned, family-run hotel. It isn’t plush, but the staff are super friendly, and the place was clean. It also gave us a safe, secure spot for our bikes. The location is great, right beside the beach. Special thanks to Maureen, the breakfast lady, for her care and attention.

We were very happy with our stay and would come back if we're in the area again. The hotel is right by the water, close to the town centre, the strand, arcades and nearby walks, and it's dog friendly. Zoe could join us in the bar and dining room, in a cosy corner. The staff were wonderful and helpful, and the food came in generous portions, so nobody goes hungry. The room was comfortable, the bed was comfy and the shower over the bath worked well. The bathroom felt a little cramped, and there wasn't much space for making tea or coffee, but we managed. Some people call the place tired or in need of a facelift. I can see that, though I'd call it lived in: it's not luxurious, but it's more than adequate. Parking is a short walk away, which was convenient enough. Full marks from us, no complaints.
