The Sands Hotel

The back outdoor area caught the late afternoon and evening sun, and it was a lovely spot to sit. My wife and I stopped in for dinner and had delicious food, a great waitress, and a lovely pint. It was probably the best value for the quality of dinner we had during our break in Tramore. Highly recommend.

We gave up after being told there'd be another five minutes and left without eating. We had waited 40 minutes after ordering, even though the menu only had five items. A waiter walked past carrying another table's order and asked if it was ours, then the manager came over to ask what we'd ordered. We stopped in one afternoon looking for a change from the many fast food places. A man took our temperature and contact details when we arrived, and a nice waitress took our order. Bad experience.

Breakfast was awful, and getting even basic things took ages. We had to ask for toast, then tea, and there were no side plates. The manager was no help either. About ten people were waiting for service, but he chose to hold a staff meeting, so our tea was delayed. The seven women working the floor were wandering around chewing gum and avoiding eye contact, so we had to ask someone to serve us, then waited over half an hour for breakfast. Not one customer seemed happy while we were there. One man got up about ten times to sort things out for his table. I'd avoid this place.

After we asked for a few napkins, they handed me a lump of blue roll and said they had no napkins. That's a first for any restaurant I've been to. The food wasn't great, and most of the waitresses were rude, though one girl was pleasant and seemed embarrassed to work there. We were told to pay for each food and drink order as we went, while the tables around us settled their bills at the end. We'd phoned to reserve a table, but it hadn't been kept for us when we arrived. Somehow, walk-ins were still being given tables. Terrible place altogether. I wouldn't recommend it.
