Avoid this place. Westport is a beautiful town with lots of fantastic accommodation options, and this property had few positives for us. It did have free Wi-Fi, though our antivirus software flagged it as unsecured. We paid a ridiculous €200 per night. There was no reception or contact with staff, and no breakfast or other dining options. We weren’t allowed to eat in the room, and there was no fridge or potable water there. For our family of four, the property provided just two toilet rolls for three nights. The beds had significant woodworm damage, and the room smelled strongly and unpleasantly. Both sink taps ran hot, while the shower controls were reversed, red for cold and blue for hot. A sign asked guests to shut the bathroom door while showering in case it set off the fire alarm, but the bathroom door wouldn’t close. The wardrobe had no handles.

I had the best night’s sleep at Woodside Lodge. It’s a little gem, about a 14-minute walk to the town centre, and a great base since all the places we wanted to visit were only a short drive away. I’d highly recommend it.

We booked expecting a B&B with breakfast, but after we arrived, an email and a notice said breakfast was no longer served. No one was on site, and nobody answered when we called with a question. The accommodation itself was fine, but it wasn’t what we’d wanted or booked.

The rooms are clean and well appointed, and the place was fantastic when I stayed a few years ago as Augusta Lodge. Back then breakfast was top notch, and the hosts would even drive you into town if they were around. Things are very different now. It’s just a “B”, with no breakfast, although the price is unchanged. The town is a 20-minute walk, and there doesn’t seem to be anywhere nearby to pop in for a roll. The shower controls are reversed, so turn the tap to “cold” if you want hot water. It’s a shame about the breakfast, because that alone would stop me recommending it. For the price, not including breakfast really isn’t acceptable. I’d actively suggest looking elsewhere for somewhere that includes it.

We’ve just got home after a weekend at the Woodside Lodge, and there’s nothing I can fault about our stay. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the hosts were lovely. I’d highly recommend it.
