Shizen Spa

The massage itself was very good, but it couldn't make up for the whole experience. The place felt old, rundown, and poorly maintained, and the service was poor. My kids gave me a voucher for a couples massage and two glasses of wine. The massages were only 45 minutes and cost 600 NIS. We were handed a bag with a rope, a towel barely big enough for a hand, and no slippers. Used towels and ropes were scattered all over the dressing room. The waiting area was just a passageway with no sofas or comfortable chairs to relax in before or after the massage. They said we'd get the wine afterward, but there was nobody around or at reception when we finished. Save your time and money and find somewhere more suitable, up to date, and relaxing.

The lunch was delicious, and the sea view was beautiful, but the service was disappointing. I got a one-day spa package here for my birthday, with a massage, lunch, and use of the facilities. Finding the spa was confusing: the hotel doorman just vaguely said to turn left, and the spa was hard to find and poorly signed. The first counter we reached was unmanned because the actual entrance was one floor down, with no sign. The massage was good, but the spa felt a little run down and wasn't as serene as other places I've enjoyed.

The massage was professional and relaxing, and we had a pretty good time at the spa. The changing room and restroom need a lot of improvement. There was no soap in the dispenser or toilet paper, and the overall cleanliness wasn't great. We told reception right away, but this should be handled routinely, not only after a customer complains. We also had breakfast at the hotel, which was pretty good and tasty.

I remembered this hotel as great from a visit 8-10 years ago, and it has a lot of potential. This time, though, everything felt a bit sad and uncared for. There was some kind of emergency, and workers were using jackhammers what felt like right outside our door. We chose the hotel for a mini-honeymoon, but ended up checking out a day early. I hope they can make it shine again, but for now I don't recommend it.
