The students were a pleasure to talk with, and they explained the kibbutz’s joint Israeli-German effort to rebuild good relations between the two countries. The place was clean and comfortable, with a private shower and toilet, and you could buy a kosher breakfast. Our room felt more like a dorm, though, with bunk beds the kids loved. My husband and I found them uncomfortable. Still, it was a pleasant stay.

It’s a quiet hostel in a residential area, with a pleasant garden and a well-equipped kitchen for cooking your own meals. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the place is basic but clean. I did find it a little expensive for a hostel, and it’s quite far from the center.

I came to Jerusalem for IDF Training, and I’ve been enjoying both the training and wandering around. Ben Yehuda Street is a fun spot to stroll or sit down with some good food or coffee. There are great little shops and often really talented street musicians playing.
