Cinema Hostel Jerusalem

The room was unbearably hot because the AC didn’t work. The TV, shower head and shower drain were broken too, and there was no soap in the shower. We asked for soap to be refilled, but nothing was done. The other guests were very unpleasant and the staff weren’t helpful. We ended up leaving early.

The city centre location is a plus. The room was small and clean, though the bathroom wasn’t, and I was cold at night despite the AC and blanket. The hostel is nicely designed, with a small kitchen that’s a bit broken. I heard music from the bar on the other side of the wall, but earplugs worked for me. The main hall doors also shut loudly. Towels cost 5Nis, and there were no towels in the bathroom for washing my hands or face. When I called to ask about availability, the staff member was nice. I was also told ownership had changed and they were trying to sort things out in a good way.

I almost didn’t book after reading the reviews, but I’d stayed here before and loooved it, so I gave it another chance. Really glad I did. The staff were so kind, breakfast had pancakes, and it brought back the fun, young hostel vibe I’d missed. Good price and location, plus movie night every day. The people who own it are awesome and big-hearted. I’d definitely come back and recommend giving them a chance to surprise you like they surprised me.

The nightclub next door plays music so loudly you can’t sleep. The place is a dump, and my room looked nothing like the photos on the website. There wasn’t even toilet paper in the bathroom. Disgusting.
