We were booked for four nights, then another two, but left after a frightening and unhealthy stay. We arrived at 8am, when the hotel information said the desk would be staffed, and waited until 9:30am without seeing anyone. Several guests were waiting to check out too. We eventually checked in at 3pm on erev Shabbat, leaving us no time to sort out problems before Shabbat. The bathroom smelled strongly of mold, and my partner had a severe allergic reaction. A water heater hung over the toilet on two rusty brackets. I considered it dangerously unsafe. The next morning we found the deadbolt jammed, trapping us in the room overnight. There was no overnight staff, and it took three hours after we called the hotel number for someone to unlock the door. The rooms felt unhygienic and unsafe, and customer service was unresponsive when issues came up. We were refused a refund. Avoid De Cardo.

We loved the location and the rooms, but there wasn’t any staff available if an emergency or other issue came up.

This very modest accommodation never sent me an invoice. I asked the guy several times, but only got promises.

The room was large and clean, the bed comfortable, and the shower warm. The bathroom worked fine, though the hot water tank was physically inside it. There was coffee in the room too. The style wasn’t especially cool or stylish, but it wasn’t gaudy or dated either. Staff were incredibly nice, and I’d stay again in a heartbeat. The location is incredible, with Kadosh bakery down the street and Jaffa gate a five-minute walk away. It’s a no-frills place in Israel, a one-storey hotel with almost no lobby, which I don’t think you need these days. The exterior isn’t really there, since it’s the back of an apartment complex.
