Hebron Hostel

The owner kindly offered us a delicious Palestinian dinner on the rooftop terrace for free. You're right in the heart of Jerusalem's Old Town, and the location couldn't be better. Still, the rooms and shared areas are dirty and run down, and cleanliness could be better. For this price, it's a good value option in the middle of the Old Town.

The location is amazing and it's good value, but I'd pay a few extra bucks and stay somewhere else. This hostel is filthy and feels extremely shady. The air is awful, the beds are very unclean, and there aren't proper sheets. The walls and ceiling are falling apart. While I was asleep, plaster fell onto my face, and I woke up with bits of it on my clothes. There's no positive atmosphere. Everything is disorganized, and sometimes you can hear loud arguments. Charging a phone is difficult because most of the outlets don't work. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

At £8 a night, the hostel is great value, with a spot inside the Old City and a basic but tasty free dinner. Still, if you can afford a few more quid, go elsewhere. It's disorganized, and the loud owners have even cleared people out of their rooms for sudden plastering and fumigation. Staff regularly walk into rooms, argue with each other, then leave, waking you up. The beds are wrapped in cling film for some reason, but I still got bed bug bites. Plaster dust covers the floor, and I was constantly brushing bits off the bed. Larger pieces can fall from the overly plastered ceiling into your eyes while you sleep. The rooms are filthy too, with a cigarette end on the window sill beside our bed. The whole hostel smells of mould as soon as you enter, and there's visible mould on the ceilings. Some staff seem genuinely helpful, but most are careless and some are just rude. You get what you pay for, and I'd only stay here on a serious budget.

The good points were the low price, the location right in the heart of the Old City, and free hummus and salad each evening. But the facilities are poor and only get a basic clean. Six rooms shared a single shower and toilet. There was nowhere to put shoes in the shower, just a hook for a towel and clothes. WiFi barely worked, and only in reception. Our room had one electrical socket, so we had to choose between running the fan to cool down and charging our phones. I wouldn't return or recommend it.
