Heleni Jerusalem Hotel

The rooms and service were great, and the hotel is right in the center. The manager was so kind and wonderful to meet. I’d definitely stay here if you’re in Jerusalem.

The owner made our stay memorable. We had a few lovely conversations with him in the bar, where he treated us to coffee or wine. We still miss the place and think back fondly on our time in Jerusalem. We chose the hotel for its handy location, then found there was more to it than the map and earlier reviews had suggested. We stayed exactly three years before the pandemic brought international travel to a halt. I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone staying in the heart of Israel.

The location was spot on and made our vacation. I’m grateful to my husband for picking this place. The rooms were clean, and I loved seeing old Jerusalem architecture blended with modern design. From reception to housekeeping, the staff were helpful, attentive, and always smiling.

I booked the hostel and breakfast online, and the owner said breakfast would be served the next morning because it was sabbath. That was fine, but he never showed up. I waited more than two hours and nobody came to the bar or dining area. I had to find my own room. Once there, I discovered the electricity still wasn’t working the day after sabbath, and none of the outlets would charge my phone. I ended up charging it behind a TV outside the room, where it could have been stolen, and left my portable charger downstairs at the bar overnight. I felt completely on my own, with nobody available to help. The owner also refused to refund the breakfast I’d paid for. I went on a Dead Sea tour whose meeting point was at another hostel, and the difference was night and day: that place was busy, upbeat, full of people, and friendly. Avoid this place if you’re looking for a hostel.
