The best part was the location, and the people were kind when service was available. But dealing with the practical problems was a hassle, and I spent a lot of time hunting for a parking spot. There’s almost no parking nearby, and the hotel’s small lot was already full well before check-in. Call ahead to see if you can reserve a space there. It should cost 50 NIS for the stay, which would be worth it. We got a great deal at 87 USD pp, so at that price it was actually super. I wouldn’t pay the full fare, though. The hotel looks nice at first, and the rooms seemed clean, but they were on the small side. We found no towels, and the phone didn’t work, so we couldn’t reach reception or maintenance. Nobody was at the desk, and there was no way to call someone over. We had to wait until we returned a few hours later for towels. Several things in the room and bathroom were coming apart, including a beam above the door that nearly fell on us. There was no shower curtain, so water could cover the bathroom floor unless you were careful, leaving you looking for more towels. It was December and a hot day, so the room got hot too. We wanted to switch the AC from heating to cooling, but the mode was controlled centrally. Opening the balcony door let in a breeze, along with a lot of street noise. Ask for a room at the back in advance. When we opened the balcony door, we also found its lock was broken, leaving the room easy to break into. Breakfast itself was okay, but the variety and taste were below other Israeli hotel breakfasts I’ve had. We asked for two coffees five times before they arrived, when we’d already finished eating. The omelets were dry, burnt, and tasteless, so we couldn’t eat them. The staff were nice and kind when available, but ineffective. I gave the service and rooms 3 stars for the staff’s kindness and the room cleanliness. The potential is there, but the hotel falls short of what it could be. Most of the issues probably won’t ruin a stay, especially if you get a rear room rather than a street-facing one, but it’s a hassle to deal with everything.
