I left with a very positive impression and can’t wait to visit again, though I wish I could give the hotel 5 stars. I picked it because Abraham Hostel, where I usually stay, is still closed. The location is amazing for reaching both the Old City and Jerusalem’s main central area. The rooftop restaurant has great views, good food, and decent service. There seemed to be some staffing issues there, probably due to the war, so I can’t really hold that against the hotel. The Mamilla Hotel shower, which I think is called a rain shower, has spoiled me for my basic one back in New Jersey. I’d also asked for a quiet room, and it really was amazingly peaceful despite being in the middle of a busy, growing city. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There were some small problems. My room was on the small side, though that didn’t matter much since I was alone. A couple or family might want to keep that in mind. I also saw a small lizard in the hallway. It didn’t bother me, and I won’t hold it against the hotel. We don’t have lizards running around North Jersey, but maybe that’s just Jerusalem. When I arrived, the sink was making a very loud gurgling noise. Staff fixed it fairly quickly, but a room at a hotel of this caliber should be inspected before a guest is assigned to it. The manager probably should have called to apologize and offered a couple of complimentary drinks at the hotel restaurant. After the repair, staff left dirty fingerprints on the bathroom ceiling. Not a big deal, but I’d expect everything to be perfect at this level. There was also a motion detector in the room that chirped regularly. As a light sleeper, I had to put a towel over it to muffle the sound. Another small issue, but the hotel should get silent detectors if they feel they need them.

We’ve stayed at the Mamilla twice, and both visits were great. The hotel is extremely well located, about a 5 minute walk to Jaffa Gate through Mamilla Mall. The first room was small but exceptionally clean and nicely appointed. Next time, we paid extra for a spacious suite with an Old City view and a neat TV built into the bathroom mirror. Both rooms had those really cool bathroom walls you have to see to appreciate. My wife also had massages on both stays, and they were highlights. We booked through AmEx and could use the full breakfast, which was especially festive on Shabbat, as well as the lounge. It had a nice selection of small sandwiches and salads, making it a good spot for a light lunch or snack.

The taxi arranged by a front desk staff member for our checkout on October 26 was the only real issue. There was clearly some miscommunication about our Tel Aviv destination, and the driver claimed he didn’t know where we were going and tried to overcharge us twice. I’d recommend confirming the destination and fare clearly before getting into the car. Aside from that, our experience at the Mamilla Hotel was outstanding. The staff, including Yatreb, Ido, and Itay, welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. The hotel is ideally located for the Old City’s historic, religious, and cultural sites. Our room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping was first rate. The spacious Fitness Center had plenty of options and was one of the best hotel gyms we’ve seen. We strongly recommend the hotel.

The location is ideal, between beautiful old city Jerusalem, just a 5 minute walk away, and busy west Jerusalem. We had a delicious Israeli breakfast in a lovely setting, and even got to eat ouside in November. Big thanks to all the staff, especially Nijem, our attentive breakfast waiter. There’s also a good-sized pool for a city hotel. We hope to return.

That Saturday afternoon tour was such a fun part of our Shabbat stay. Our guide taught us a lot about Jerusalem, and we visited the Tower of David for free. It lasted two hours and worked really well as an activity while keeping Shabbat. We were six in the family, and everyone enjoyed it. The hotel's view was amazing, the staff were lovely, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We loved staying at the Mamila hotel. Best hotel in Jerusalem for us, and I’d recommend it for all ages.
