New Palm Hotel & Hostel

For the drive, you'd be better off going to the stay inn. I've been backpacking for a long time, and this place has the charm of being beautifully built in the 70s.

I stayed here in 1977 too, and not much has changed. Loved it. Vincent from California is a true professional, and I'm so grateful the staff took an interest in me and looked after me. The location can't be beat, especially for an early starter. It's a good hostel if you need to keep costs down. Bare bones, but it had everything I needed and nothing I didn't, and it made for a beautiful experience. I'm SO GRATEFUL. Twenty-four days after I left, war broke out. I'm so sorry for the victims, especially the non-combatants. Peace and love to everybody there.

The staff were respectful and friendly when you treated them decently and politely. Best regards to my friend from the graveyard shift. There's free coffee and tea all day, and the hostel has a great atmosphere. I met some pretty interesting people here. For the price, don't expect luxury. I stayed 19 nights, and the location was great: near the Old City, tram and bus station. Shops nearby sold fresh fruit and vegetables, and there was a fish and meet market in the morning. You could also get local fast food pretty late at night, which is unusual for Jerusalem. Some cleanliness complaints may have more to do with guests than staff. The bathrooms were cleaned every morning, but if people didn't clean up after themselves, they got dirty quickly. Staff can't be expected to clean them after every use. I'd gladly stay here again if I return to Jerusalem.
