Herods Dead Sea

The breakfast and dinner were okay, though the food didn't wow me. The lobby looks gorgeous and has lots of space, but there’s no USB or USB-C charging there, or in my room. There are several things that need upgrades soon: the toilet seats by the spa look really old, and the beds in my room were 39 inches, so get a room with bigger beds if you're a little larger. You have to bring your own towels to the the Dead Sea. Most staff don't speak English, and one employee answered me in Arabic. That made me wonder whether the hotel is safe, though I hope at least the security guards are Israelis. I don't understand why they can't hire Israelis who speak English when there are so many, instead of foreign workers who don't speak our language.

The food was amazing, with lots of choices, and there were robes and slippers in the hotel. You can relax in plenty of places, including hammocks and the cold outdoor pool, or use the wet and dry saunas and the hot saltwater pool. The spa costs extra, and there's also a shul. On the beach there are chairs and towels, with a lifeguard until 6:00 p.m. This was my second time staying at the Dead Sea, and I chose this hotel because you can get there directly without crossing highways. The room was clean but just okay and a little small, with a cigarette smell. Room service was quick and professional.

The rooms are clean and pleasant, but they don't feel up to the standard of a four-star hotel. It seems little effort went into renovating them, and even the rooms that were redone look like a low-cost job. The food is perfect, and the lobby is lovely and has recently been refurbished.

Sarah at the front desk made a great first impression by upgrading our room, and the staff were warm from the moment we arrived. We spent three nights at herods and couldn't be happier. The room was spacious and spotless, with a lovely city view. The location made it easy to walk to the main attractions and good restaurants. Breakfast was fantastic, with both local and international choices. We'll definitely be back.
