Avia Hotel & Resort

The free parking was plentiful, and the Wi-Fi worked at a good speed. The Indonesian restaurant next door was good as well. It's close to the airport, which was useful, though the hotel itself has clearly seen better days. Renovations were underway and looked a bit untidy and haphazard, and the corridors smelled strongly of cat pee.

The receptionists were friendly and supportive, and breakfast was very good, though pricey. We needed somewhere close to the airport, but the website pictures made the hotel look much nicer than it is. This isn't a resort, and there's construction around it. The hotel needs renovation, especially the bathrooms.

There was no breakfast, and no dining options either in the hotel or nearby. The room had unclean parquet floors, a poor elevator, a loose toilet, bad tiling, and mildew around the wet areas. Coming from Germany, I found this place unacceptable. I won't post pictures of these things, but I can't recommend it, even on a budget. In many places this wouldn't be called a hotel.

The room was comfortable and clean, and reception gave great customer service. The hotel is near the airport, with a taxi costing about 100 shekel ($30). The elevator was the one problem. The regular one was out of order, and the other ran slowly on its own, stopping at every floor without anyone pressing a button.
