Hotel Welcome Palace

Social Club's food is very nice, and both the price and quality are good. The location is handy, right in the market, so everything is easy to reach. The staff are helpful and cooperative, though the front office people need more authority to make decisions. Outside the hotel there's a smell everywhere, and you'll probably want to stay in your room. The linen and furniture need upgrading, the sofas need vacuum cleaning, and the bathroom needs more lighting. I accidentally broke a small glass and was charged Rs.200.00. I offered to buy twelve of those glasses in the market for 200, but the front office staff blamed management again. I don't know where management is. I'd recommend the hotel to travelers who aren't there for leisure.

Breakfast came with the stay and was actually good, especially for children. We were there for one night with family, and the room service and desk service were very good. The hotel's right in the heart of the city. The only thing I'd change is the interior lighting, which could be better.

I've stayed here before, and those visits with my partner went smoothly. This time, over our three days, staff argued rudely when we asked why a guest wasn't allowed, even though that rule wasn't mentioned anywhere. The room we booked was replaced with a much smaller, dirty one, with lots of stains on the room and bedsheets. The AC was noisy and didn't work properly, there was no fridge like in the rooms before, and we were charged extra for bedsheet stains we hadn't made. It felt like they were creating problems to collect more money. A really bad stay, and I wouldn't recommend it if you want a peaceful trip.

The staff were nice and responsive, and the hotel is in the main market with essentials close by. The rooms were okay, but the bathroom wasn't clean, and one room had a broken window pane. Those areas need attention.
