Lake Gardens Resorts

This doesn't feel like a hotel or guest house. The rooms and service were worse than a guest house. The taps leaked and made noise all night, the toilet seat was broken, the flush didn't work, and the washroom was worse than a public toilet.

The manager Rajeev was one of the worst hotel staff members we've encountered. He was rarely at reception and stayed in one of the rooms, leaving nobody to contact. We had to wait for him to come down just to check in, and he didn't even offer a basic greeting. When we asked for a bottle of drinking water, he argued with us, and after that it was painful to ask him for anything. In the morning there was no hot water in the bathroom, nobody at reception, and the manager's listed phone number was switched off. The room was very dirty, with old, smelly pillow covers covered in marks, a poorly cleaned bathroom with water marks and splashes on the toilet seat, holes in the walls, and an uncomfortable spring mattress. The property was poorly kept from reception through the exterior. Dust covered the roofs and ceilings, and the welcome area needed maintenance. The photos online seem to show how it looked when it first opened, while its current state is pitiful. The central pool was dirty, and the chawl-like layout was misleading. We checked in late and left as soon as we could. We only stayed because we had no other option then, and we wasted our money.

It's an inexpensive place with both A/C and non-A/C rooms. At check-in, we found stains on the pillow cover and sheets, even though it was an early check-in and they should have been replaced. They were changed right away when I asked, and the manager was kind enough to do it after I insisted. The rooms and bathrooms could use better upkeep, perhaps with room and bath fragrances. I usually stay in courtyard-style places and wanted to try this one. My first impression was 3 stars, but since it costs one third as much as the Ramada next door, I'd give it 4.

The staff were very good, the one real positive. The rooms were average and weren't as spacious as sites claimed. The verandah, stairs, and other areas need a deep clean. Outside, the hoarding advertises a restaurant and other features, but they're not there. Wifi is available, though the signal doesn't reach the rooms. To me, it's just a couple of buildings with a few rooms and a pool in the middle, not a resort.
