OYO 14226 Hotel Gago Inn

This place felt unsafe and unclean, 0/10. I wouldn't recommend it to couples, and for families it's a disaster. Our original hotel was over capacity for Navaratri and sent us here. I think this property had been shut down, abandoned for a long time, before it was sold to Oyo. There was only one suspicious-looking receptionist and no other staff. The room smelled damp and was in poor condition, and the bathroom was worse. The AC had problems and there was no remote. The bathroom sink didn't work. The biggest issue was that our tour operator's cooking belongings went missing at midnight from downstairs, where the hotel had instructed them to leave them. The owner or manager arrived after police got involved, but that didn't help, and they didn't pay their share of the reparations. I'm pretty sure the bearded receptionist was involved with the local thieves.

The location is nice, but the place could be maintained much better. Our room was unlucky and its heater didn't work. Staff didn't understand English, so you should try communicating in Malayalam. For three of us, they provided just one set of soap, body wash, and towel. They don't have a canteen to make breakfast, so they went out to get it. The staff were the worst part.

We'd paid for two OYO rooms through Phonepe a week in advance, when rooms were readily available, but when we arrived at 7 pm, they said ours had already been filled. We'd travelled a long way and were tired, and just wanted the rooms we had booked and paid for. They didn't keep them for us, and it seemed they'd given them to other people who could pay more. They were rude, didn't wear OYO official T-shirts, and spoke badly to us. We waited outside the hotel for an hour and a half, but they made no other arrangements. We had to book and check into another hotel. Very bad service from both OYO and chembil residency. There didn't seem to be proper staff, just boys without responsibility. The person at reception seemed like a criminal and looked dirty too. If you see this review, don't take it lightly. Don't even consider this place if what you need is a room. If you've prepaid, you definitely won't get it if someone else is ready to pay more. We found a room at seaside residency, about 400-500 meters away. It was very neat and good, and the people and service were much appreciated. Don't fall for their cheating, they are fraud.

They charged Rs.800 for a double bedded Non-AC room with an attached bathroom. Cleanliness wasn't great, and big groups often made a lot of noise, so your sleep could be disturbed at night. If you want to stay near Alappuzha Beach, you could consider this property.
