New Heaven Beach Resort

I didn't stay at the place, but rented a scooter for three days after Yog Inn recommended it. The Activa was decent and came with more than half a tank of petrol. Rental shops elsewhere were rude, while the service here was good and the rates competitive. I'd recommend them.

This place felt like home, and the hospitality was lovely. They even shared the wifi password without being asked. The rooms were well maintained, hot water was available around the clock, and they can cook for guests if told in advance. I'll try that next time, and I'd choose to stay here again when I visit Varkala. We hadn't checked in or paid yet, but they let us park and watch the sunset. After visiting a beach, we came back and checked in. They didn't charge for an extra bed, and the staff were so nice. The price was very reasonable, especially compared with other expensive places nearby. It's close to the cliff, and similar rooms elsewhere cost much more, with some asking extra for each child after the booking was finalized.

I rented a bike here for two days and paid an extra 1000rs as an advance. When I returned it, the person at reception wouldn't give that money back and said he would refund it after three days. He later came to our hotel, took a photo, and said he wouldn't refund me because we hadn't worn helmets. We had worn proper helmets on all the main roads. He said he wanted to wait and see whether there was a police case. Then a woman came over, pushed my wife, and put her hands on her. This felt like a scam. Be careful, don't pay an advance here, or avoid renting a scooter from this place. Better to rent from somewhere reputable.

The family running the resort were very hospitable, and the service was excellent, available 24 hours. We ate all our meals here, and the family cooked and served the food with love. It was delicious. There's also a lawn out front that works well for meditation or yoga. The beach is only 30 meters from the rooms. You can see the sea directly, though the view isn't very close. The rooms are older but maintained, with a very large bathroom and hot water. Our main issue was privacy: with the door open, the bed is directly in view, though this wouldn't be a problem upstairs. We had a good experience overall.
