Utopia Varkala

We got an upgrade, which made our stay at Utopia feel even more special. The beautiful rice fields around it made for a peaceful escape, and breakfast each morning tasted like homemade goodness. Beaches, restaurants, and other fun places were close by, and there was always a cab available, so getting around was easy. A cute little kitty added to the cosy feel. Angelina and Ivana were such warm, welcoming hosts and took care of every detail. Staying there felt like visiting friends. We absolutely loved it and will be back to this peaceful paradise!

The yoga Shala is stunning, with a lovely view over the rice field. The hotel is amazing, and its two owners are beautiful people. I'd go back anytime.

The property felt safe and peaceful, tucked away from the busy town but still not far from the beach or main area. It has a newly renovated boho look, with the kitchen and living area downstairs, bedrooms and a lounge on the first floor, and a yoga terrace above. The rice field slopes away behind it, leaving the building elevated. At night, fairy lights along the path look stunning. We had plenty of parking for our rented scooter, as well as a designated car space, though larger cars may have trouble. In the lounge there's a shared kettle, bookshelf, and board games. Our compact, cosy room was clean and neatly arranged, with AC, a balcony, an attached bathroom, enough towels and toiletries, warm lighting, and a candle-like night lamp. The main drawback was the number of bugs, especially at night, since the bathroom windows have no mesh. The regular cotton blanket also felt uncomfortable compared with a thick comforter. Ivanna welcomed us warmly, showed us to our room, and checked that we had what we needed. When we mentioned feeling tired from travelling, she made fresh ginger honey lemon tea. She was kind, courteous, and friendly, and we had engaging conversations. She also prepared a healthy, delicious breakfast and brought it to our outdoor seating area. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the place to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable stay in Varkala.

We could have happily stayed longer. The beds were incredibly comfortable, there was AC, and breakfast was homemade and delicious. Some rooms and the breakfast patio have lovely views, and you can walk through the fields for a more direct route to the beach or take the streets. We also took a yoga class on the roof terrace, which felt transcendent. The mother and daughter hosting us were kind and professional, and went out of their way to welcome our driver too. It's a wonderful place for peace and relaxation.
