We had no hot water, and some basic amenities were missing. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room, but no repellent was provided. At night a bachelor group was drinking on the property, which felt unsafe and unsuitable for families. That was especially concerning because the owner had told us the other rooms were occupied only by families. The service was very poor, and I wouldn’t recommend this homestay for families.

From the balcony, you can watch the houseboats, and the location is very good. The manager was friendly, and the staff were kind and helpful. They also gave me a lot of support with my aged father. It would have been even better if housekeeping had been arranged to change the linens and clean the rooms.

Our host helped arrange travel and boat cruises on Alappuzha's backwaters, and breakfast was delicious. Rain Tree is around YMCA junction near the city centre, with good restaurants nearby. You can walk to the Boat Jetty in about 10 minutes, and the railway station is a short autorickshaw ride away. The air-conditioned rooms are spacious and clean, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The road noise can be bothersome at night, so a room at the back may suit you better. First-floor rooms share a common area with a balcony.

For a low-budget stay in Alappuzha town with a homely feel, I think you’ll be happy at RAIN TREE. It’s in the centre at YMCA jn, but still a calm, quiet place. The ambience is very good, and the owners provide good service and take care to maintain quality for guests. The manager is quite funny and very friendly. 🙏🌸❤

A comfortable, clean place in a good location, close to the boat jetty and restaurants. We stayed for two days, and host Anoop and helper Shyam were very helpful throughout.
