Symphony Inn

The room was decent, but quite small, and the AC smelled as though it hadn't been cleaned. Hot water was an issue too. Parking was a hassle because the underground area was congested. The hotel is right in the city center. As a non-vegetarian, I didn't find the food in the house appealing.

I had a really bad experience and wouldn't recommend this hotel because of the staff's behavior. I was traveling alone and checked into a room, then invited a friend who lives in Vellore to have dinner with me. I planned to order from yaamohadien restaurant downstairs, but as soon as my friend came in, reception called and told him to leave, even though he wasn't staying over. I argued that I was paying for the room and asked why he couldn't visit. The staff member argued that every guest had to come to reception and get permission. It seemed ridiculous. I said I would leave and asked for my money back. At first he refused, then argued some more before returning it. He also argued with me over Rs 200. A single-person stay costs Rs 2300 and a double stay Rs 2500. The staff member was Mahesh, who seems to be a manager, but he didn't know how to speak to a customer and acted as if he owned the hotel. I had originally asked a friend in Vellore to book it because the reviews looked good.

The room service was practically nonexistent, and the staff were rude and careless, as if they didn't care. The rooms were filthy, with stained blankets and pillows. Breakfast felt like poor value for what I paid: just idli, dosa, and puri, with no variety or quality. This stay at Symphony, Vellore was overpriced, badly managed, and a waste of money. One of my worst hotel stays.

The front desk staff were welcoming, and both check-in and checkout were smooth. Room service was good too. The room, TV, and fridge were nice, though a few things in the shower area need fixing. It's centrally located, within walking distance of the bus stand and 3 km from the railway station. Really good value for the price.
