Hotel Mayur Palace

The staff could be hard to find when I needed help, yet intrusive when they weren't needed. Getting an extra blanket took three calls and twenty minutes, and the staff member looked at me as if I'd insulted their family. The front desk promised to fix the Wi-Fi, which didn't exist, and replace the old TV remote held together with sticky tape. Neither promise was kept. The noise from the bus station was nonstop, with diesel engines, horns, and people shouting from Khodiyar Chowk. There was no peace at any hour. The address being near the Bus Station felt more like a warning than a convenience. In Room 204, the AC sputtered noisily and only blew damp, lukewarm air. The mattress was like a slab of concrete, so I got no sleep. The bathroom had stains on the shower tiles that looked older than the hotel, and the hot water turned into a lukewarm trickle that stopped after 45 seconds. I was fairly sure the towels were made from rough industrial burlap. This stay felt like a string of things going wrong at once. Comfort, cleanliness, and courtesy were nowhere to be found. It was a derelict nightmare dressed up as a budget hotel, but priced like a minor luxury. Save your money and your sanity, and sleep in your car on the Ambaji Hwy if you have to. Just don't check into Hotel Mayur Palace.
