Fairfield by Marriott Amritsar

We stayed in a superior king with a sitting area, for 8k including breakfast and dinner. Dinner cost about 900 rupees, and it was worth it: lots of choices, delicious food, and roughly 8-9+ desserts alone. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options were available, and the quality and quantity were well managed. Breakfast was tasty too, with many choices, including around five drinks and six kinds of bread. The meals were nicely presented. The room was spacious and clean, with a fluffy, comfortable bed, a clean sofa beside it, and a cute, tidy washroom. Toiletries and other everyday items were provided. The staff were polite and attentive, and the hotel’s ambience was a 10/10. There’s also a swimming pool and gym. We visited the pool, which was spacious and very clean, though we couldn’t use it because we were there in winter. The gym was great as well. We had a perfect stay at Fairfield with no complaints. I’d highly recommend it if you’re coming to Amritsar.

Harpreet was a wonderful person to travel with. He drove us to the historical sites and Wagah Attari border, then took us shopping and to some great food spots on our last day before dropping us at the airport. He treated us like family and was excellent with our family. The hotel staff were warm and caring too, especially Ashish, Anjum, Niharika, and everyone at the restaurant. Breakfast and dinner buffets had a huge range of delicious food, especially the Indian desserts. The hotel is well located, about 30 minutes from the airport and 15-20 minutes from other key places. Security and staff greeted us warmly on arrival, and check-in was quick and smooth. I’ve forgotten the name of the person whose name started with N who checked us in, but they gave useful advice for an early morning visit to the Golden Temple. The staff made the Amritsar trip easy, convenient, and memorable. Very satisfied with the stay.

The disposable slippers were a nice touch, and the room was comfortable, but the shower screen had visible watermarks. The bathroom floor flooded when we showered in the morning, making it slippery because of poor drainage. Dinner took around 30-40 minutes to arrive, and then dessert took another 30 minutes. After we finished, a staff member said he’d clear the dishes soon but never returned. There was no tray to leave them outside, so we had to keep the dishes in the room overnight, and it smelled of food. The service was slow and very poor. The hotel leaflet said breakfast was complimentary, but the restaurant told us it cost extra. That was misleading and disappointing. We booked expecting Marriott standards, but they weren’t met, so the stay was disappointing.

Our driver, Harpreetji, was courteous, patient, and knew the city well. He drove smoothly and kept us comfortable on trips to the Golden Temple and Wagah Border, so sightseeing felt easy and enjoyable. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff looked after us throughout. Service was prompt and genuinely warm. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.
