Hotel Excellency

I stayed for about seven days and paid Rs 10000/ in total, with a 50% discount, excluding breakfast. The room was clean, had the basic amenities, and housekeeping kept it that way each day. Staff were friendly and approachable. The hotel is centrally located, about a 7 to 8 minute walk from Ernakulam railway junction. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. For breakfast, there’s also a nearby South Indian restaurant with fresh food at affordable prices. I had a good stay overall.

The location was excellent, and the staff were accommodating. The restaurant was absolutely brilliant and made the hotel useful as a base for getting around, especially during the busy New Year period. But at about 2K a night then, the rooms were hard to understand. The first room had faulty electrical contacts, so I raised the issue and got moved. In the next room, the AC barely cooled, the room felt humid, and the unit was leaking by morning. The showerheads were rusty, room service wasn’t regular, and the linens and sheets were uncomfortable. The halls weren’t cleaned regularly either, with used plates and unused beds left outside for days. Given the price and all the other conditions, the state of the rooms was head-scratching.

A decent place with a family-friendly feel. Rooms are on the small side except for two, and the bathroom door was partly broken, so maintenance could be better. Breakfast isn’t included, but restaurant room service is good, affordable, and the food is tasty with good portions. Visitors are allowed in the rooms. There’s a cloakroom, a ramp and lift for accessibility, and limited parking. Hotel Excellency Annexe is a separate building just off the main one, with bigger rooms.

The staff were so kind and helpful, including with guests who don’t speak Malayalam. I forgot my charger, and Jaseel and the others went out of their way to get it back to me. They made sure I didn’t have any language problems. Thanks so much for making my stay the best.
