One Earth GG Regency

I cancelled my stay at One Earth GG Regency (80 Steps to Golden Temple) on the night of 23rd January 2026 because the hygiene problems made the room unfit to stay in. The bedding was visibly dirty, there were blood stains in the room, and I found hair on the towels and blanket. The room and washroom were also unclean. This was a serious hygiene and safety concern, not a small inconvenience. I raised it immediately and started a cancellation through MakeMyTrip, but the hotel did not respond or take corrective action. I’m still waiting for confirmation and a resolution on my full refund, pending since that night. I’d advise travelers to be cautious and check the cleanliness standards carefully before booking.

The 3 rating is only because they responded to my complaint right away, moved us to a clean room, and the temple is very close to Golden Temple. The first family room, though, was in awful shape: broken bathroom tiles and a smell like it hadn’t been opened in ages. I’d booked five months ahead and paid extra for an early check in at 8:30 am on 14-March-2026 because of my early flight. After a night long flight, I just needed to rest, so I didn’t complain about the room then. At 12:30 pm, staff came into our room without knocking while my family was asleep. That breach of privacy was shocking and showed a basic lack of training. Manager Palash’s excuse for it was baseless. I spoke to MD Monalika and was relieved when the room was changed. I held back my anger because I’d been to a holy place and didn’t want to disturb my family’s peace. Management should train the staff properly in hotel management. Being near the temple is the only positive thing I can see about this hotel. Travel Desk staff Mr. Rajinder and Karan were the exception: humble, kind, and loving, and their service truly touched me. Thank you both for making our vacation pleasant.

Breakfast was the one good part of our stay. We had 4 rooms for our holiday from 17 to 18 March, and the experience was uncomfortable. The washrooms didn’t seem properly cleaned: taps, mirrors, and buckets had visible water marks and stains. In one room the flush didn’t work, so we had to use a bucket, which was inconvenient. The rooms felt suffocating and stale because there were no windows or proper ventilation. The hotel is down a very narrow market lane that cars can’t reach, only e-rickshaws or autos. We had to use an e-rickshaw whenever we went out or came back, usually around ₹100 each time, adding inconvenience and expense. We spent nearly ₹2000. I hope management improves cleanliness, maintenance, and access for future guests.

The only thing I can praise is the location near the golden temple. For what the hotel charges per day, the facilities and service disappointed me. We had to follow up several times for drinking water, and they gave us jar water, which felt risky. Even the complimentary bottle didn’t arrive until we called three times. The rooms and cleanliness were average, and the washrooms had only shampoo, with no handwash or body wash. We stayed three days and got the same breakfast menu on two days. The taste was below average, street food is better. They charged half a day for early check-in, then held us in the lobby at checkout while they checked the room to see if we had stolen anything. I’ve never experienced that even at international hotels. The washrooms still stank after housekeeping, and there was lots of corridor noise from construction and children playing and shouting. Staff felt rude, arrogant, unhelpful, and money minded. Really disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Better to search near Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji statue. Naam bade or darshan chote, that fits this kind of hotel perfectly.
