OYO 19565 Hotel Galaxy

The room my friend got at OYO 19565 Hotel galaxy, Amritsar for 26-27 July 2019 was shabby and dark, and the toilet seat was broken. He asked for a different room or at least a repair, but the hotel representative refused and spoke roughly to him. Since he had paid in full, he decided to put up with it for a day. At checkout, they demanded his mobile phone. He objected that taking it would invade his privacy, but they got rough, and they still had his ID card. He eventually had to hand over the phone, and the hotelier forcefully left a 5-star rating through his OYO app. By then he was shaken by their behavior and got out of there as soon as he could. He has already sent a complaint to OYO with the booking reference and other details.

The stairs were narrow and steep, and one room had no exhaust fan. There was no intercom in any of the rooms, the TV did not work, and neither the bathroom doors nor the main door had an inside latch. We also found no toiletries or towels. The host was unfriendly and discourteous. OYO should check hotels before licensing them instead of misleading travelers. I want to know whether the hotelier is cheating OYO or OYO is cheating the public.

The roads leading there are so narrow they’re difficult even to walk along, despite the manager liking that it’s on the main road. The bed was hard, the rooms had no ventilation, and no water was provided. Rooms were unclean and the bathrooms unhygienic. The manager was rude, as were the staff, and because of some disagreement with OYO, he refused to provide us with necessary services. Never book this room.

The bathrooms were dirty when we arrived, and the flushes didn’t work. We had to push the owner to clean them. There were no bathroom latches, and some rooms didn’t even have keys. The TV was out of order, and we had to ask the owner for its remote. We didn’t feel independent at all, and it never felt like a vacation. The owner was extremely rude and had no courtesy with customers. He kept giving our family trouble over the AC, saying it didn’t work and refusing to switch it on, though it somehow started working later. Our rooms were suddenly changed, with no real explanation beyond being told to move. Carrying heavy luggage from the ground floor to the first floor was very difficult. OYO should properly audit the hotels it lists. It shouldn’t accept just any photos as proof of what’s at the property. The company needs to scrutinize its own methods and processes, because this isn’t what we expect from OYO.
