The room was small but cozy, and its little balcony had breathtaking views of the hills. The staff were a bit lazy and service was slow. Still, the chef was cooperative and happily cooked the chicken and mutton we’d bought the way we liked. The Royal Village is one of the most affordable places to stay in Auli. There are just 12 wooden huts, and they need immediate renovation. It has basic facilities like a geyser and room heater, but the wooden boards aren’t airtight, so cold air gets in. Being in the middle of nature also means a lot of insects, especially spiders and scorpions. During our two-day stay, we found one scorpion and two spiders. Most visitors stay in Joshimath because Auli has very few places to stay and most are expensive. The Royal Village is the only budget option.

For peace and stunning mountain views, you should visit this place. Chandra Prakash uncle is the best host you’ll ever meet, and the staff are friendly and provide great hospitality.

The staff were attentive and supportive during our two-day stay in the last week of February, and the view from this proper wooden cottage was lovely. Its location near the Auli Ropeway is a 10/10 for sightseeing and adventure. The rooms are small and need better upkeep and upgrades. In cold weather, hot water takes a while to come through, and the canteen could be better maintained. The stay was good overall, though the price felt a bit high.
