Fabhotel Heritage Palace

Right in the middle of the city, this is a decent hotel, though I saw a few small cockroaches (kasari) in the room. Communication between the restaurant and hotel seems poor. If you order anything to your room, be clear about paying right away and keep your bill, or checkout can turn into a time-wasting stop at reception.

I've stayed here twice. The location is strategic, the place is neat and clean, and the staff are good and cooperative. But both visits came with problems the hotel couldn't resolve, especially the second time. They weren't major inconveniences, but the infrastructure needs some repairs and upgrades before this feels like a cozy place to stay. Food is average, and the included breakfast was basic, just pohe and upma, though one day they offered me a dosa. Prices for the stay and food are reasonable. The hotel wakes up quite late: you can't get anything until after 7:30 AM, which is already work time to me. Parking outside is very limited.

I'd give zero stars if Google allowed it, but the minimum is one. I booked an AC room, yet the hotel guy left the AC flap open and said it would cool the room. By the end I had to leave the doors open for ventilation. Don't stay here.

The restaurant Mint is obnoxiously priced, and the food quality doesn't match the cost. The idli stall outside is a better choice than their overpriced oily, spicy food. The hotel itself was in very bad shape, with stinky bathrooms, broken bathroom window glass, no toiletries, and people smoking around so the whole place smelled. It seemed mostly used by local couples and felt like a definite no for families. If there were a rating below one star, I'd give it.
