Katoch Homestay

We only stayed two nights, and I still wished we had longer. The rooms were spotless, the bathrooms well looked after, and Sanjay Sir and his team were genuinely kind and hospitable to me and my friend. Tyson was a highlight, always tagging along when we went hiking. The food was delicious too, especially when Sanjay sir cooked and added his lovely mix of spices. Being right in the forest made the place feel like home to me. At night there was wind in the trees, no car horns, and just stars and clear moonlight. It was the perfect place to get some time to myself and get away from the noise. We couldn't have asked for more.

Dinner outside beneath the forest canopy was a wonderful experience, and the location was excellent. Sanjay, the owner, took care of everything for our family of six, including food, travel, and paragliding. Our October 2017 stay was refreshing and memorable. The rooms were clean and spacious, and hot water was available all day. One small drawback: there was no mirror in the rooms, which is a must for all ladies. Thanks, Sanjay and Sansarji.

At Katoch Homestay, the birdsong and all the greenery around you make it feel like a real jungle hideaway. It’s about 5km from Bir city, and there are good trails for hiking nearby. Sanjay, the caretaker, and his staff made us feel very comfortable. He’s a great cook as well.

The place is clean, with clean rooms, two lawn-like areas to relax in, and helpful staff. Tyson, their pet dog, is very friendly. There’s a monastery, a stream, and about half a dozen trek spots nearby. You can rent two cycles here, or find more at the landing point. It’s a 10-minute drive from the paragliding landing site. They have a kitchen and will cook to order, though there are plenty of food options at the landing site too. Try cafe - June 16, run by a young couple. The food and ambiance are both good.
