I’m asking your office for a formal response and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience during my stay at The Monarch Hotel, Brigade Road, Bangalore, on 13th May 2026. I’m a Diamond member of IHG and have stayed at hotels in India and abroad, so I was deeply disappointed by the service and facilities. I was given an AC room, but its air conditioning was defective. I raised the problem with three receptionists across different shifts, hotel manager Ms. Pavithra Mercy, and two maintenance staff members. No one resolved it. Ms. Pavithra Mercy said, “we told you at the time of check-in that we don’t have rooms.” That doesn’t fit with the fact that I was allocated an AC room. If I’d been told AC rooms weren’t available, I would have chosen another option instead of putting up with the discomfort. This reflects badly on the staff’s professionalism and on the reputation Monarch Group has built over 35+ years in hospitality. The location is lively and good, but the hotel felt mean-spirited. The whole staff seemed wound-up, and getting a smile from anyone was hard. The website mentions early check-in and late check-out, but don’t count on that. They charged me for checking out just 45 mins late.

We’ve stayed here whenever we come to Bengaluru for over 6 years, and years ago we even spent a full month here. Today’s visit was the worst experience. The front desk staff were rude and unkind. Before the renovation, when reception was upstairs, the people there were nice and professional. The current staff are rude and unprofessional, and we won’t be coming back.

Sofia at the front office made check-in pleasant and was supportive. It’s a good property, and I’d recommend it to families and business travelers.

The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were clean, and service was good. The place is a bit tucked away, though, and parking is cramped. They even held a flea market in the parking area.
