UG Royal Hotel

Please don’t stay at this hotel, it was the worst. They treated people very indecently, and the problem came up right as we were leaving.

I had to find another hotel at 1am after they told me no other room was available and said I’d have to make do for the night. I’d booked an AC deluxe room, but it had bed bugs and flies all over the mattress. When I came back to check out, the receptionist, Ashok, offered me a room. Mr. Ashoke also refused to give me the checkout bill until I paid 12% of the total room charge. A hotel that can’t keep basic standards should be shut down.

I stayed mainly because it was about ₹500 for a single bed, non-AC room for one night, and because it’s an easy walk to Banglore metro. It’s hard to find somewhere to stay near a metro station, and those were the two main reasons for me. I’d recommend it only if you’re travelling alone and just need a cheap place to crash for one night, or want that very quick metro access. The rooms and all the bedsheets were filthy, and I doubt they clean them properly. There was hardly any room service, and the neighborhood was bad. The bathroom, though, was clean.

There were no toiletries or hot water, and the bathroom was so dirty that bathing there could leave you dirtier. The commode drained when flushed, and the bathroom latch wasn’t proper. The TV looked like it had been picked up from a garbage pile, and the mirror was nearly falling off the wall. We got to the lodge at 9:30 after a long journey, but nobody was at the counter. When staff eventually arrived, they went about their own business instead of greeting us. The wait was disgusting, and they had no manners. The place was messy with no services and unfriendly staff who didn’t respond well. UG royal has royalness in its name only, it isn’t fit for a servant.
