Hotel Sunshine

We stayed at Sunshine Hotel, Berhampore from 24-25 May 2026, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences my family has had. I've travelled across India with my wife and child for work over the past 10 years and stayed in many hotels, but never faced hospitality this poor or behavior this disgusting. I had booked through MMT and clearly included my wife and 7-year-old child. Still, breakfast was provided for only two, and they refused to give any to my child. The complimentary breakfast had very few choices. Because of an unavoidable situation, I asked for packed breakfast around 10 AM. Staff mentioned puri-sabji, roti-sabji, or bread, but in the end they packed just 6 slices of bread with jam and butter in one carry bag, along with 2 bananas, and said it was breakfast for two. They again refused anything for my child. Other basics were poor too. They gave us local RO water instead of complimentary sealed drinking water bottles. Of the two towels provided, one was badly torn and unusable. We asked for tissue paper at night and reminded staff the next morning, but it arrived around 11:30 AM, just before checkout. At checkout I called reception and asked housekeeping to inspect the room. The housekeeping lady argued aggressively about the torn towels and blamed us for making them dirty, though we hadn't used them because they were already badly torn and unusable. I complained to the manager, but nothing was done. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional to my wife. I would never recommend staying at Sunshine Hotel, Berhampore.

A really poor experience, with no value for money. The food wasn't good, breakfast service was awful, and the staff seemed immature and unprofessional. Honestly, you'd be better off at the railway station or bus stand than staying at this hotel.

The bathroom was in a terrible state, with a very dirty sink and mirror, and the toilet wouldn't flush. I called reception and someone came, but the problem stayed. I ended up using the reception washroom, which smelled of urine and had an unclean sink too. When I tried to open the curtains, the rod and curtains came down. It's a budget hotel, but the standard was far too poor for me to recommend it.

We had to ask several times before getting towels and soap, and the bathroom had no light until we'd escalated the problem repeatedly. Breakfast was a long wait, nearly 25 minutes, even though I'd told them before we came to the restaurant. The puri was so hard that a child would struggle to eat it. At dinner, the chicken in the Chinese dish was hard too, though the fried rice was much better. The experience wasn't good.
